Town of Matthews is Taking Bids for Fire Truck
The Town of Matthews, NC is accepting bids on a new Platform Fire Truck. Specifications will be available on
the Town’s webpage, www.matthewsnc.com or can be picked up at the Town Hall, 0900 to 1700 hours Monday
through Friday, except holidays, starting at 1700 hours on Wednesday, October 28, 2009.
The bidder shall supply a Bid Bond in the amount of 10% of the proposed contract amount. The bond is to be
furnished by the company who will build the apparatus proposed. Bonds by salesmen or agents of the
manufacturer are not acceptable. An exception to this requirement will not be allowed.
The successful bidder shall furnish a 100% Performance Bond within 30 days after notification of award of the
contract. The bond is to be furnished by the company who will build the apparatus proposed. Bonds by
salesmen or agents of the manufacturer are not acceptable. An exception to this requirement will not be
allowed.
This is a formal bid. Bond(s) provided must be written by a surety company that is licensed to underwrite bonds
in our state.
All vendors are encouraged to include in their proposal provisions for a Unit Price Contract extending for
trucks for up to five years.
All bidders are hereby notified that they must have proper licenses as required by State Law at the time of
submittal of bids. Bids may be held by the Town of Matthews for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days from
the date of opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders,
prior to awarding of the contract. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any
informality in the bidding.
The sealed bids will be opened 30 days after the bids have been made available. The sealed bids will be
submitted to Jill Pleimann, Town Clerk. The Town Hall address is 232 Matthews Station Street, Matthews, N.C.
28105. All bids must be in a sealed envelope clearly stamped or marked (in letters of 114” or more),
“PROPOSED BID FOR TOWN OF MATTHEWS, Platform Fire Truck. DO NOT OPEN UNTIL, Friday,
November 27, 2009.”
The sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the Town Hall, 232 Matthews Station Street,
Matthews, N.C. 28105, in the Hood Room, starting at, 1400 hours, Friday, November, 27 2009.
