Cold Calling

I put aside my fears the other day and went cold calling for the very first time to Locust. Yeah, yeah I know. . . . Locust isn't exactly the business meca of the world, but it is growing. Thought it would be a good place to start, based on my location. So armed with a stack of business cards and a flyer, my wife and I went door-to-door just dropping in to say "hi" and asked if we could leave our business card and material. Much to my surprise, we were not greeted rudely, ran off from the prem… Continue

New Business Model - The Ant

I have a new business model - ants. . . I was walking the dog the other day and we came upon this whole steam of ants going across the driveway. As I stood there and watched them for a while, I tried to pinpoint (1) where they were coming FROM and (2) where they were going. There were two lines of them - one line coming towards me, all with something in their mouths and another line going away from me - empty handed as it were. The line was extremely long and I never could quite pin point wher… Continue

What are YOU wearing?

No, I'm not a perv . . . but I've noticed a trend in my own experience running a home-based business. Running a home biz has its advantages - you can crawl out of bed, throw on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, grab a cup of coffee and head upstairs to the office. But it has been my experience that the days that I do just that - I am the least productive. I end up spending too much time checking the sports scores, too much time on Twitter or the other social networking sites, and basically end up… Continue

One Day . . .

We've all said it - perhaps as a parting remark to a dream or goal we've had. One day, I'm going to buy that RV and travel across the country. . . One day, I'm going to quit my job and run my own business . .One day I'm going to do that addition to my house . . . One day, I'm going to take some time off and spend more time with my family . . . one day . . . I don't know about you, but I'm tired of that "one day"Continue

4.08 Acres Up For Sale on Hwy 601

I have an older house and 4.08 acres of land up for sale on Hwy 601. The property is located directly across from Lakeview Church. It includes a pond stocked with catfish, an older home built around 1932, and two buildings. The value is in the land and the location, not the house. This is a beautiful stretch of land located in a prime location. Check out the web site at: 601house.com for more information. This is perfect for someone that is… Continue

I'm in.

As I sat in church yesterday, I had a short conversation with God during the middle of praise and worship and declared to Him that "I'm In". My thoughts regarding those two little words are related to spiritual matters and runs pretty deep. I won't get into that here. If you want to know more about the spiritual side of it, ask me and I'll explain in more detail on a private basis. But as I thought on those words and that commitment this morning, I realized that it could be related to everythin… Continue

Forget The Economy!

I believe way too much emphasis is placed on the "bad economy". Sure things are down, but can worry change anything? Can telling everyone we meet, how bad the economy is and whether or not we are going to make it, change it one degree? The time we spend wringing our hands, and saying "woe is me", is wasted time and it produces a defeatist attitude. Rid yourself of that. Wake up with a smile on your face, and determination in your heart that nothing - absolutely NOTHING is going to hold you ba… Continue

Humbled by my clients

I'm sitting here at my computer, at the start of new day, feeling very humbled by the new business contacts I've made over the past month, and the fact that they trusted me enough to create their online presence for their business. This is no small thing. The web site is the first impression that most people receive of your business - that's YOUR livelihood! To entrust the importance of that over to me . . . I am extremely humbled and grateful. I love and appreciate every o… Continue

Hi Everyone!

For those that don't know me - I'm a Union County native and run a small home-based advertising agency and web design firm geared towards start-ups, small and medium-sized businesses, churches and ministries. I've worked as a graphic designer and creative director for several successful ad agencies for over 25 years and a web designer for over 7 years. Recently I finally broke free from the corporate rat race and started Pro Image 1 and NC Web Pros. My philosophy reflects that of "Duct Tape Ma… Continue
